HUB Marine

Also known as Hongkong Salvage & Towage ("HKST"), the modern day HUD MARINE was created in 1973 when Hongkong & Whampoa Dock Company, then owner of HKST, merged with Taikoo Dockyard & Engineering to form Hong Kong's largest marine engineering company. The origins of HKST date back to 1935 when it operated in Shanghai as Shanghai Towage Company before moving to Hong Kong in the 1950's.

Today, HUD MARINE designs, owns and operates Asia's leading tug fleet and is the only Hong Kong based member of the International Salvage Union. The fleet is Hong Kong's largest with 15 vessels totaling 55,200 BHP at an average age of only 7 years, one of the youngest tug fleets in the world. Most vessels are constructed to meet UK, Hong Kong, and Australian specifications and regulations and all are classed either with Lloyd's Register or Bureau Veritas.

Towage
HUD MARINE currently operates 13 tugs in Hong Kong, providing 24-hour towage and berthing services under the call sign "Hongkong Tug" anywhere in Hong Kong waters. This covers the area from Tap Shek Kok to Tolo Harbour and encompasses Victoria Harbour, Tsing Yi, Kwai Chung Container Terminals and Lamma Island.

HUD MARINE averages over 80 tug moves per day, providing towage services for passenger ships, tankers, container ships, car carriers and Capesize bulk carriers, All tugs are "reverse tractor" type with twin 360 degree azimuthing propulsion units controlled by a single joystick allowing for maximum manoeuvrability and efficiency.

HUD MARINE was involved in the construction of all of Hong Kong's cross-harbour road and railway tunnels, and routinely undertakes ocean tows, including oil rig moves, in the Asia Pacific region, with 2 tugs currently deployed for assignments in the Middle East.

Most of HUD MARINE tugs are capable of undertaking ocean tows, including oil rig moves in the Asia Pacific region.

Salvage
HUD MARINE is the only Hong Kong based member of the International Salvage Union, and has been involved in a number of high profile salvage operations in Hong Kong and nearby areas. HUD MARINE salvage tugs are equipped with the latest Global Satellite Positioning (GPS) and GMDSS/Satcom systems, as well as fire-fighting equipment delivering up to 2,400 tonnes per hour and providing up to 56 tonnes bollard pull.
Containership
HUD MARINE designed, built and currently operates four 95 TEU fully-cellular hatchcoverless container vessels and two 29 TEU geared deck container vessels for the Hong Kong Government to transport refuse from urban areas and outlying islands to rural landfills.
