Greek buys $105m VLCCs
Greek owner Almi’s $210m brace comes only three months after it ordered 10 suezmax newbuildings at the same South Korean shipbuilder.
Daewoo says the VLCC brace will be delivered in the second half of 2013.
The $105m price tag for the ships is $8m ahead of the value Clarksons places on VLCC newbuildings at the present time.
A spokesperson for DSME says the price differential is due to the higher than average specification of the 320,000-dwt vessels.
In December Almi paid $650m for the 160,000-dwt suezmaxes, which will be delivered by November 2013.
