Cosco ports throughput jumps 14pc in June to 7.4 million TEU
COSCO Shipping Ports' throughput increased 14 per cent year on year in June to 7.4 million TEU, a third of the gains - 1.5 million TEU - driven by company ports outside of mainland China.
Even laggard regions such as the Pearl River Delta cluster of ports achieved volume growth of 13 per cent to 2.3 million TEU from two million TEU in June 2016.
Throughput at newer ports in the southeast rose 15 per cent in June to 454,500 TEU and in the southwest, by 30 per cent to 113,700 TEU.
Volumes at ports in the Yangtze River Delta region rose by seven per cent year on year to 1.7 million TEU, while throughput in the key Bohai Rim cluster increased by four per cent last month to reach 1.4 million TEU.
