Kazakhstan to join WTO after 20 years of talks - longest in history
KAZAKHSTAN is on the last lap of its long journey in joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) after 20 years of negotiations, according to the official communique.
Kazakhstan's accession package will now go to the WTO's General Council for formal adoption after the longest accession process in the history of the trade organisation.
The former Russian province exports an estimated US$78 billion annually, roughly 38.25 per cent of its gross domestic product, with top export goods including oil and mineral fuels, iron and steel.
Currently, the United States ranks as Kazakhstan's fifth largest import partner with an estimated $2 billion in imports.
