INTTRA Announces June’s Top Carriers in Ocean Shipping Information Quality

INTTRA, the world’s largest multi-carrier e-commerce network for ocean shipping, today announced the June 2014 results of its Ocean Shipping Information Quality program, revealing exclusive insights into the quality of carrier data provided by the global containerized shipping industry. The program, launched earlier this year, enables carriers to easily identify where data issues exist in order to drive the systematic improvement of shipment information quality.

The results identify June’s top five carriers providing the highest quality shipment data. They are:

1. APL
2. United Arab Shipping Company (UASC)
3. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL)
4. CSAV Group
5. Safmarine

For the first time, Safmarine, one of the largest international shipping companies offering container services worldwide, gained a place on INTTRA’s top five list of carriers delivering high quality data. The rankings — which are derived from analysis into shipment status events matched with transport plans provided to shippers on the INTTRA network — provides carriers on INTTRA’s global e-shipping platform with a comprehensive view into data quality. Findings are measured by completeness of information using the specific event milestones that shippers need for each shipment.

“Safmarine is pleased to join INTTRA’s exclusive list of the top ocean carriers in information quality, which spotlights the importance of having timely and accurate data in the shipment supply chain,” said Niels Thomas Agner Hansen, Global Head of Safmarine Sales Excellence and Customer Experience. “Placing a priority on high-quality data is a core element of our strategy, and plays a direct role in increasing our efficiency as well as that of our customers’ — while raising customer experiences to a new level of excellence.”

June’s report continued to drive industry-wide improvement in shipment completeness across all carriers, resulting in a more efficient and cost-effective process for carriers and shippers alike. Since the program’s launch, the improvement gains made to shipments with container status event messages will impact approximately 2.3 million shipments that would have been incomplete throughout the year — but will now be complete as a result of INTTRA’s initiative1.

“INTTRA’s Ocean Shipping Information Quality program continues to make a broad impact as carriers make the pursuit of quality data a key focus of their global strategy,” said Sandra Moran, Chief Marketing Officer, INTTRA. “We congratulate the carriers who have consistently placed in the ‘Top 5′, which reinforces their commitment to ensuring value-enhancing information in the shipment supply chain — and commend Safmarine for joining their ranks.”

The program — comprised of a monthly carrier scorecard, the INTTRA Insights Platform for Visibility, and INTTRA Ocean IQ professional service engagement — was created in conjunction with ocean carriers to provide them with a standardized measurement system for global shipment data completeness, accuracy and timeliness. This provides all participating carriers with a monthly scorecard, as well as their carrier ranking report based on the information collected.
